Description
This Jacksonville boat ramp offers quick access for those looking to fish in Black Creek's North Fork or Black Creek's South Prong. Adjacent to this Jacksonville boat ramp is a nice park with a playground, fishing pier, restrooms, boardwalk and picnic pavilion. There are about 30 parking spaces at this Jacksonville boat ramp with additional parking available just across the street in an overflow lot. Because this ramp is relatively small, parking becomes a challenge on busy days. This ramp is in good shape and can be used regardless of the water level. Launching into Black Creek, you can expect one of two things; some fish and a lot of recreational craft. For the most part, these two don't mix very well, however, Black Creek's North Prong and Black Creek's South Prong have a few backwater areas for Jacksonville fisherman looking for smaller waters with less traffic.
In May 2001, this Jacksonville boat ramp was recently renamed from the Middleburg (Main Street) Boat Ramp to Master Sgt. John E. Hayes Memorial Park. A lovely tribute for a native Middleburg High School graduate who gave his life defending our country in Afghanistan.
