Description

The unimproved Jacksonville boat ramp at Six Mile Landing Guana Lake provides access to excellent fishing in Guana Lake (formally known as Lake Ponte Vedra). Being six miles north of the Guana River Dam, this Jacksonville boat ramp is known oddly enough, as Six Mile Landing. There is a dirt parking lot which is pretty small, with only about 12 vehicle/trailer parking spaces. Other than that, there's not much to report. However, you won't be spending your time in the parking lot because all of the action is in Guana Lake. You can look forward to a peaceful setting without a lot of boat traffic that you would expect in a normal lake. Boats with motors are restricted in Guana Lake to 10 hp or less. The majority of the people that are fishing at Six Mile Landing Guana Lake are Jacksonville kayakers. This Jacksonville boat ramp will put you in the northern end of Guana Lake. The water depths in this area range from 2 to 4 feet, however, when periodic drawdowns occur in the spring, Guana lake’s depths can be reduced drastically. Their is excellent fishing in Guana lake, you will not be disapointed.

Special Conditions

Guana Lake fishing in the northern half of the lake is closed from November 10th until about February 10th due to hunting activities. Periodic drawdowns are carried out in the spring which lowers Guana lake’s depth and reduce the fishing area drastically. This makes it difficult to fish anywhere in Guana Lake but the southern end near of Guana Lake, near the Guana Dam. Fishing Kayaks, canoes, and small boats are ideal. If you have a motor, you can only use one with less than 10HP.
