Best advice, just enjoy yourself. Some people HAVE to catch something, some like to just be out in nature, while others try to refine their fishing skills. It kinda depends on your personality. Me, I just like being out fishing and don't have to catch anything (though I ususually do ;) ). I think bottom fishing it boring, but you have to have a little more skill to use plastics. If you're into plastics, take your time in learning the bait and how to use it.
